Wrestling Singlets

Last week I talked to you about the point system in wrestling. This week I am going to talk about the singlet you have to where when you compete in tournaments and duals.

First, they are very uncomfortable.

Second, they are hard to get on.

Thirdly, they are one piece (that is why they call it a singlet).

Fourthly, they are tight.

Fifthly, they feel like spandex.

And lastly, they are made of elastic.

The End. Visit us next week for more random wrestling stuff!

Wrestling Point System

This week my topic is going to be about the point system in Wrestling. In wrestling there is a bunch of different ways to score points in a match. One way is a takedown which is when you take down your opponent to the mat and get control over their body. Another way is when you reverse your position from not in control to in control. Back points are also another way to score points. If your opponent is on the ground for five seconds you score three points. Four is two. And one through three is one point. And that is all the ways you can score points in wrestling.

First semester portfolio- Piece I would like to revise!

The piece I would like to revise is a 12 sentence story/stort story. It is about the time I got sliced open by a badger. I remember the pain and blood from my incident so I wrote about it. I would like tell the story in more detail than what I did in 12 sentences.

1) One day my buddy and I had our baseball bats and were out hunting grouse.2) He had an aluminum baseball bat and I had a wooden one.3) We were by the ponds in the woods.4) While we were walking in the woods, we found a badger.5) I thought it was dead, so I heaved a stick at it.

6) Can you guess what happened next? 7)You guessed it right.8) As it chased me, I started to run, and it kept chasing me, so I started hitting it with my bat.9) I eventually won the fight against lean-mean-fighting-machine badger since I only walked away with one deep gash on my heavily bleeding left knee.

10) As I stared in fear at the dead badger I had just realized that I had just killed a mother badger that was just trying to protect its babies.11) It must have been as protective as a wild mother bear protecting her cub. 12) When we got back home, my mom took me and my bloody pants to the Emergency Room.

First semester portfolio- Favorite piece!

My favorite piece is my cause and effect essay. The essay is about Middle School Wrestling. It is my favorite because I like to wrestle and it is about one of my favorite personal things I like to do. My ideas for this essay came from my experiences in wrestling.

Joining the Best Sport Ever!

When I first got to wrestling I thought to myself, how hard will I have to work? Who will I have to wrestle? What weight class will I be in? I also thought, this oughta be fun in about fifty ways. YEAH RIGHT, I will probably lose all my meets but oh well, I guess. Got to get over with it sometime. Now that I have been in wrestling for about three weeks, I have seen good and bad effects.

First of all, I have met more friends. So far I have made about ten more friends. Some of my friends have helped me in the process of wrestling. For one, they have helped me get a better stance, better technique, and lastly better moves of effectiveness. I also can talk to my new friends in and out of school.

Another advantage is going to new places in South Dakota that I haven't been to before. For instance, on Saturday, December 12 I will be going to Brookings. I have never been to Brookings, South Dakota. I also like to go out of town because it is something to do every once in a while. We also get to travel to Watertown, Madison, and Parkston.

Thirdly, I can win a bunch of wrestling medals. Oh yeah, so when my mom sees me wrestling, she will probably be shouting from the stands saying, “Go Son Go." Also my parents will be very proud of me, and I will be proud of myself, hopefully. It would feel good to win once in a while.

Lastly, I would be able to beat up on my little brother with all of my "nifty difty" moves I learn in wrestling. With all of those moves I would "dominate the game."

If you think you want to go out for wrestling, I would say go for it because you would have tremendous fun, and would be skillfully trained to win. I know I have learned a lot, but there is one thing you always need to know... to be respectful to your team, work hard and stay healthy, and be as good as gold.

First Semester Reflection!

Some things I learned in Language Arts was I learned more than what I already knew about a computer. I also learned I like to read more than I use to.

I learned during the first semester that I am better at Language Arts than I thought I was. I also learned that I could read alot more than I already do.

I need to work harder to succeed in the next semester. I also need to get my homework and class work handed in to be more successful in Language Arts.
